What is Collagen?

Collagen is a protein that is woven into a flexible framework in various connective tissues in our body. To date, there are 28 types of Collagen being identified, each bearing a different molecular size that is catered to effective absorption by different parts of the body.

The various Collagen types are found throughout our body, with over 90% of the collagen present belonging to Type I Collagen.

Collagen and its Types

The most common Collagen Types are Type I and Type II.

Collagen Type I

  • Strong in nature with good tensile strength, Type I Collagen is the most abundant and is found in our skin (face), tendons, artery walls, scar tissues, vascular ligature, organs and bones.
  • Our Products: Super Bone Collagen & Super Beauty Collagen

Collagen Type II

  • Found in smaller respiratory tubes, makes up moveable joints and is the main component of cartilage in the body.
  • Our Products: Super Joint Collagen

What is the difference between the products in Natural Health’s Collagen Series?

Each product in Natural Health’s Collagen Series is formulated differently, with molecular sizes ranging from 2kDa – 5 kDa.

The different molecular sizes are the results of extensive research of absorption ability by different parts of our body. To put it simply, our Collagen products are each specially formulated for best optimal absorption efficiency.

Our body has the ability to absorb two types of nutrients: macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients such as carbohydrates, proteins and fats are our body’s direct energy sources, whereas micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, etc) indirectly influences available energy by serving as catalysts to release the macronutrients. Thus, these nutrients need to be efficiently absorbed otherwise, they will be unable to fulfil their ‘duties’ optimally.
